As they continue to grow, they looking for a motivated and experienced Wholesale Trade Manager to lead company's wholesale operations and drive both sales and procurement initiatives.
The Wholesale Trade Manager will play a key role in managing procurement, stock, and sales processes, while also overseeing a team and ensuring the smooth execution of day-to-day trading operations. You will be responsible for driving sales performance, managing relationships with suppliers and customers, and ensuring all operations meet compliance standards and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Management
- Lead export sales efforts to consistently meet or exceed sales targets and report progress.
- Represent the company to foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, service providers, and customers.
- Oversee the recruitment, development, and management of team members such as laborers and forklift drivers.
- Ensure all accounting and finance inputs are provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage or outsource quality assurance processes and ensure standards are met.
Procurement
- Secure product supply from growers and agents, ensuring that supply meets the company’s demand and quality standards.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with existing growers and agents while seeking new partnerships.
- Stay on top of supply trends and provide regular updates to the team.
- Maintain communication with market agents and conduct market visits to gather up-to-date insights on prices, quality, and volume.
- Ensure all industry and legislative requirements (including the Horticultural Code of Conduct) are met and maintained.
Stock Management
- Be accountable for daily stock management, ensuring accuracy and accountability in all stock transactions.
- Minimize disposals and reduce associated costs.
Sales
- Develop, present, and update sales and marketing strategies for product lines, considering customer demand and the company’s goals.
- Regularly update and inform sales forecasts and target progress.
- Leverage the supply chain to generate strong volumes and profit margins.
- Execute customer acquisition and sales strategies to meet individual and group sales targets.
- Participate in group sales team meetings, workshops, and strategy development.
- Proactively manage and resolve any claims or disputes with urgency.
- Ensure stakeholders are consistently updated with live progress and completed steps in the trade process.
Relationship Management
- Represent the company professionally in all dealings with stakeholders.
- Maintain transparent communication that aligns with the company’s policies and commercial interests.
- Contribute to the enhancement of processes and procedures to resolve commercial issues, including product disputes or quality claims.
Travel Requirements
- Frequent travel is expected, including visits to fresh produce markets, grower locations, and conferences (domestic and international).
- An Australian unrestricted driver’s license and forklift driver’s license are required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in wholesale trade, procurement, and sales management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to handle stock management, reporting, and compliance with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Australian unrestricted driver’s license and forklift driver’s license.
