We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Fresh Produce Export Trader to join our client's business to drive their success forward by connecting high-quality produce from growers to global markets.
As a Fresh Produce Export Trader, you will be at the forefront of securing high-quality produce, managing key relationships, and ensuring smooth trade execution. This role requires a combination of procurement expertise and strong sales capabilities - all while fostering lasting relationships with growers, customers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement:
- Secure and assess product supply from growers and agents, ensuring high-quality produce is sourced for export.
- Regularly attend farms and orchards to meet with growers and inspect products before, during, and after the season.
- Build and nurture relationships with existing and new growers, agents, and suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Stay up-to-date with supply trends and market conditions through consistent communication and market visits.
Sales:
- Develop and implement sales strategies for product lines, ensuring alignment with export markets and customers.
- Provide regular updates on sales progress and adjust forecasts to meet company targets.
- Utilise supply chain levers to optimise volumes and profit margins.
- Drive customer acquisition and execute sales strategies to achieve individual and team targets.
- Actively contribute to team meetings, workshops, and sales strategy development.
Trade Execution & Quality Assurance:
- Maintain constant communication with growers, customers, and suppliers to ensure smooth product transportation.
- Oversee quality assurance processes and manage outsourcing when necessary.
- Proactively resolve any quality claims or issues with urgency.
- Ensure compliance with all export regulations and provide relevant updates to all stakeholders.
Relationship Management:
- Professionally represent the company in all interactions with stakeholders.
- Foster transparent communication with internal and external partners, in line with company policies and commercial interests.
- Contribute to the development of processes to avoid and resolve commercial issues, such as disputes or quality claims.
Travel Requirements:
- This is a remote role, but regular travel is required to meet with growers, visit markets, attend conferences, and engage with international and domestic stakeholders.
- You’ll travel to fresh produce markets, freight forwarder sites, grower locations, and events to stay connected with industry developments.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fresh produce trading, export logistics, or a related field.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a focus on achieving targets.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to manage quality assurance processes and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally.
- A proactive and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
